Policy Statement

Maestro Music Ltd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We take our responsibilities seriously and ensure all staff understand and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

 

Scope

This policy applies to all staff, contractors, and volunteers working on behalf of Maestro Music Ltd, including those delivering services in schools, online, or at community venues.

Key Principles

  • All children have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

  • All concerns and allegations will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately.

 

Safer Recruitment

We ensure that all staff working with children and young people:

  • Have an Enhanced DBS check

  • Provide two references prior to starting work

  • Complete Safeguarding Level 1 training

  • Provide proof of Right to Work and ID verification

 

Code of Conduct

All staff must:

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times

  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to the DSL

  • Follow the procedures set out in this policy

  • Treat all children and young people with respect and dignity

 

Recognising Abuse

Staff are trained to recognise the signs of abuse, including:

  • Physical abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Neglect

 

Reporting Concerns

If a child is in immediate danger, staff must call 999.
For all other concerns:

  • Report the issue to the DSL as soon as possible

  • Record the concern factually and accurately

  • Maintain confidentiality and only share information on a need-to-know basis

 

Whistleblowing

Maestro Music Ltd encourages all staff to raise concerns about poor or unsafe practices. All concerns will be taken seriously and treated confidentially.

 

Online Safeguarding

For online lessons or content, we ensure:

  • No 1:1 contact with children via personal devices

  • Content is age-appropriate and securely hosted

  • All online platforms used are GDPR-compliant and moderated
